THE ALBANY CLUB QUIZ
Hedgehog's Blog
Christmas 2006
Another successful quiz on the 18th December
Lesley's team won on 47.5 points,
Gerard's team on 44 points came second.
Kylie's team won the cashpot round for the second time in a row,
and Russ won the "shit-a-brac" round - A good distribution of prizes!
'Cos it's Christmas it got me wondering where I'll be drinking this year.
Obviously I'll be visiting the fine establishment that is the Albany Club
over the next 2 weeks, but what else is on offer?
By the way, I'm a real ale drinker - any chance of some in the Club?
The Royal Oak - one of my fave locals, but I believe they have
problems with water in the beer, And the cellar,
And the bar, And the curtains....
The City Arms - Soul-less. OK for early doors but gets a bit lairy
after about 8.00pm. It's a bit like TK Max for alcoholics.
Millsy's - A great improvement since it's refurb, with 2 real ales,
but I don't like standing up with a pint in one hand and a fag in the other.
The Cottage - Oh dear, what have they done to one of Coventry's
longest established pubs? The non-smoking "Smoke Room" is like
the reception area of an Ibis Hotel. "Champers" is an impressive bar
for clubbers but not for me - "Bringing London to Coventry" !? What ?!
So that's the local choice. There's no pub.
I think I might buy a big bottle of cider, stand outside the chip shop,
wave a stick and hurl abuse at passers by..![]()
