More Friday Night Blues
The "About Us" statement is out of date and no longer true; " Free live entertainment every FRIDAY, Saturday and Sunday". With the introduction of tribute bands this is no longer the case.
Could you please update and advise the clubs strategy for Friday Night entertainment. Tribute bands are by the very nature specialised. Covers Bands would better satisy the general club member "live music" audience

Well if you're gonna be picky......
Friday nights have always been a difficult night to please punters. We've had some really great covers bands over the last 12 months and we always try to give new, up and coming bands a gig if we think they're up to it. We also pay well.
Attendances though, have been sporadic, especially during the lighter summer months and where bands don't have a local following to the point where the cost can't be justified. Hence the Tribute bands, which occasionally reach break even after all the hassle, and private party bookings which ALWAYS show a profit. You can't please all the people all of the time as we say...…
thanks for your comments, always welcome. Let's see if the thread gets some interest?

Attendance is sporadic, not only due to the lighter summer months, butin my opinion also because of the inconsistent approach to the FRIDAY night entertainment planning. It is understood that the club needs to be profitable and that other methods have to be considered but;
a) Tributes probably please only a few club members
b) Private bookings please only those members that are related to the event (often none).
An alternative aproach could be to have arrangements with 12 to 15 good covers bands each playing circa 4 times a year. This way everybody knows what to expect and may be a deal could be made including whereby the band demonstrates (its following) some good bands outside of the area bring a good following (change of scene).
Maybe you could enquire with the audience (ask the audience) for suggetions and ask club members via the meeting minutes and also by the feedback page.

Young at heart
Hi, I'm new to the area, on my own, no friends here. Is it a really friendly place, will I meet similiar age people there. I'm 68 years young.

Friday Night Blues
It is disappointing that the good standard of live bands has become intermitent. The regular customers will disperse to (for example) the Arches. It was good to know that Friday night was always good at the Albany...no more.
Can I recommend that we return to the previous, and also request that All Friday live bands are based in the lounge bar.
The concert room is too big, (no atmosphere for smaller audiances) old fashioned and the beer is disgusting

It is at times unfortunate that we have to have the bands play in the concert room, As for customers leaving to visit the Arches I feel you will find they put on a more let's say heavier band of music and also charge an entry fee to ALL their nights where the Albany only charge,
a) for non members which is still a low fee of £1.ok and
b) a door price on Tribute nights
If you care to visit The Arches you will most likely find that they don't have many visitors unless there are a great following with whatever band is playing, I would also like to say that Mick our Steward keeps a very high standard of beers etc which are also a lower price than the Arches and many others around,
You may also like to visit Carey's on a Friday night and take a look around their bar and see what is happening... I for one thank you for pointing this out but I do feel you are being a tad harsh
